We are going to be selling Aspiration Suits at Not As We Know Itfair at the Royal Standard Liverpool.
For NAWKI we have produced pants to wear to interviews, smart shirts with a secret message and bomber jackets with patches that claim back the shit that Tory ministers have said about young people as well as messages of solidarity. ASS also have condoms, mugs and biz cards because you know who can resist merch. This project explores everyday 'quiet anarchisms' and beginning work in hyper-professionalised, hyper-bureaucratic, dog-eat-dog Tory Britain. Not all doom and gloom though more like fun riot.
We will also be performing Affirmation a tribute to Jessica of YouTube fame and the Riot Grrrl movement. We hope Aspiration Suits will one day be felt as empowering and inclusive a community as Riot Grrrl.
For the event weekend ASS will screen Kerri Jefferis presentation/video So Free, So Powerless, So Psychopath and host a chat with Elena Colman on small rebellions at work as a strategy where the public are invited to bring their best stories of hoarding tea bags and knicking toilet roll.
